Pizarro: Photography exhibit at Mezcal gets into the spirit - San Jose Mercury News: "In a perfect pairing of art and venue, Mezcal restaurant owner Adolfo Gomez is hosting a photography exhibit at the downtown San Jose eatery that's all about the culture and production of mezcal, the spirit. "From the Earth to the Spirits" is a collection of 25 beautiful photographs by Alejandra Cano that traces the creation of mezcal from the agave plant in the Mexican state of Oaxaca and follows it all the way to the cantinas where it's enjoyed. The Consulate General of Mexico's office co-hosted a cocktail reception -- featuring a lot of mezcal tasting -- at the restaurant Wednesday, where Cano talked about her work and mingled in a crowd of more than 50 people. The exhibition will be on display in Mezcal's courtyard through July 7."
